Biography:
John Bushnell began as an apprentice to Thomas Burman. He fled to Italy when his master attempted to force him to marry a servant. Bushnell began working in the Baroque style and also assisted in the production of a monument to Alvise Mocenigo in Venice. Around 1670, Bushnell returned to England and was commissioned to create a statue of Sir Thomas Gresham. His difficult personality kept him from receiving more work and he died in bankruptcy.
