Biography:
Norwegian artist, Johan Christian Dahl began his career as a professor at the Dresden Academy in 1824. He was active mostly in this city but gathered his subject material from the landscape of his home country. Dahl made frequent visits to Norway. His avid patriotism was evident in his landscapes. He also helped found the National Gallery in Christiana (present day Oslo) and donated his own art collection to the institution.
