Artist: Walker Evans (1903 - 1975) Biography:
Walker Evans first began photographing on a European trip in the late 1920’s and published them upon his return to New York in the 1930. He documented workers and architecture in the South for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression. Evans contributed images to many publications during his career. After working for Fortune magazine for twenty years, he abandoned his post to become a professor of photography and graphic design at Yale University.
