Biography:
Charles Ginner was born in France, but his family was of British descent. Ginner moved to London in 1910 and joined Sickert’s Camden Town Group at the encouragement of his friends Gilman and Gore. He later joined the London Group in 1913. Ginner preferred to paint town scenes and landscapes, famous for his paintings of various places in London. He established a unique approach to his painting, using thick brushstrokes and heavy outlines. His style remained consistent and Ginner was one of the few members of the Camden Town Group to retain their traditions after World War I.
