Biography:
Ivon Hitchens, British painter, is remembered for creating a unique style of landscape painting in which fields of color represent the English countryside but do not accurately depict it. Hitchens moved to Sussex in 1940 and continued to paint in this manner without it becoming tired or stereotypical. He also painted flowers, figures, and several large murals.
