Biography:
Born in France, Hubert Le Sueur moved to England in 1628 and spent the majority of his career there. He was consistently commissioned by Charles I, creating the famous equestrian statue of the king, located at Charing Cross in London. The sculpture is made of bronze and is a testament to Le Sueur’s strong technical skills in bronze casting. His main achievement in England was spurring the popularity of the portrait bust. He returned to Paris in 1643.
