Biography:
Danny Lyon published his first photographs in the 1960’s while working for the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. They appeared in The Movement, a documentary book about the Southern Civil Rights Movement. He later began creating his own books, beginning in 1967 with his study of the lives of outlaw motorcyclists called Bikeriders. His other works include Conversations with the Dead (1971, a look at prison life in Texas and I Like to Eat Right on the Dirt, a compilation of Polaroids of his children. Lyon also creates film documentaries and received the Guggenheim Foundation fellowship for photography and filmmaking.
