Biography: Cornelis de Man was probably related to the clergy. In 1642, he entered the Delft Guild of Saint Luke and then worked in Paris, Florence, Rome, and Venice. In 1654, he returned to Delft and stayed there until his death. De Man was noted for his interior bourgeois scenes influenced by Jan Vermeer and Pieter de Hooch. He also painted and etched portraits.
